My Best Birthday Ever

Danny

Thirteen years ago today, our son was born. It seemed miraculous to us, because we were quite sure we would not be having a child at all. Ever. We had been trying, but the cards seemed to be stacked against us. In fact, Kay had become pregnant a couple times, but sadly, it never worked out. It seemed it was not meant to be. It was an emotional roller-coaster for both of us.

Then, our luck changed. The planets aligned, the clouds parted and sunlight filled our lives (In fact, we know it was not luck at all). In any case, Danny was born thirteen years ago today...on MY birthday.

Happy Birthday, Danny. You're the best thing that ever happened to us. We love you more than you will ever know. You're a terrific son.

Our story was the same, I either couldn't get pregnant or if I did I lost it. So our now 36 year old daughter is OUR miracle. I know the depths and the joys of your love for that son, Dan! It was, indeed, your best birthday ever!

He's a handsome young fella :)

W2W, it was worth the wait. God had a plan. Although we didn't always understand it, He knows better than we. Great to hear from you as always.

Scattering Lupines,

Thank God he looks like his Mom. :-) She's the "looker" in this duo.

Oh, that made me cry ALLIGATOR tears. (Even though, I am not sure what those are... It's just something we always say for "really big tears".)

I can't imagine a better birthday present! Hope that BOTH of you have a great day!

Did you say 13 years? A teenager, huh? That's just scary! I can't even imagine it.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Jay. That's quite a story, eh? At least WE think it is. It's one of those "God is Good" stories.

And yes, a teenager. Hopefully we all make it though this alive! :-)

I think it is great that you share birthdays, Dan. What a wonderful gift! Is he a teenager? My son will be a teenager on Saturday and he is a "Mini Me." (GOD HELP HIM, LOL) He is a good boy and I hope that never changes. I need to save all my energy for my daughter.....the no-fear child. Hope your special day is great!

Yes, Carol, he turned 13 today. Before today, he referred to himself as a "pre-teen". Ya see where this is going??? I see pain and suffering on the horizon (mine not his). Thank for the birthday wishes, Carol.

I just noticed the quote on the side, I LOVE it! ...and I might steal it for our baby album.

Haha...it's all yours, Jay. :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! \O/

What a COOL story!

Let them eat cake!!

: )

Thanks, H.

I think I've overdosed on cake. I'm gonna have some extra junk in the trunk come morning. I may need to take up smoking as a distraction. :-/

I TOTALLY KNOW WHATCHA MEAN! I've said that so many times...If I could just switch my vice to smoking! Sure, I'd look like crap on the inside, but I'd probably finally be a size 2! ; ) haha...

So whadja get!?!

H, I rec'd a couple books that I had on my "list". A couple Seth Godin books. (He has the best business/marketing blog ever.

You're talking to a guy who needs nothing. Especially soon after Christmas, my list is shot. So, I asked everyone who insisted on giving me a gift to write a check to the soup kitchen on my behalf.)

jeez, nice, Dan...[she said, averting her eyes]...can't say I've ever been that unselfish where my birthday was concerned...I tend to play up the "Birthday Queen" role to a fault...

Hey, a cool aside...you and Joy from "Good Morning Mary Sunshine" were the first two people I interacted with in Bloggy world, and are still only two of the four that I mainly interact with...Well doncha know one of HER special days was yesterday too...Her anniversary falls on YOUR birthday (or the other way around)...so I was sending both of you 'happy happy' wishes...just thought that was kinda neat :0)

well, feel free to mail over any leftover birthday cake my way...Wouldn't want you having to spend your birthday money on Marlboros...

; ) haha
